Join us as we celebrate this year's Hamilton Life Achievement Award Recipient, Khalil Munir.
This is the 30th anniversary of our Mind Your p's and q's event! The community celebration marks the culmination of our annual all-school Learning Differences Awareness Weeks, which spotlight neurodiversity and the need to support and advocate for individuals with specific learning differences.
The event name, "Mind Your p's and q's," relates to the common challenge that individuals with dyslexia experience with confusing similar looking letters and with processing phonological information.
This is a signature Wheeler School event, and we encourage all members of our community to attend. The event will begin with remarks and a ceremony at 6:30pm in Isenberg Auditorium, followed by a reception in the Wharton P. Whitaker Building.
About Khalil Munir
Khalil Munir is an accomplished actor, dancer, educator, and storyteller who was diagnosed with dyslexia when he was 14 years old. While there are several reasons why he is a fitting recipient of the Hamilton Life Achievement Award, it’s his “The Crown Is Yours” book series that is most directly connected to award, which recognizes people who have used their learning differences to their advantage in accomplishing great things. The series’ main character, Malik, is a boy with a learning difference who transforms his anxiety into courage. Malik’s journey is based on Mr. Munir’s own experiences.
You can learn more about Mr. Munir and the Hamilton Life Achievement Award on our website, and you can register to attend through the link here on the Wheel.
